About

What is SciQuest?

SciQuest is the new bilingual, intuitive and comprehensive online shopping tool at the University of Ottawa. It offers faculties and services a familiar “shopping cart” experience designed to make their at-work day-to-day purchases and payments easier.

How can it help me?

SciQuest provides a mobile one-stop shopping experience for a variety of products, from office to scientific supplies. Shopping is easier than ever, as the rules and regulations governing procurement in Ontario are built into SciQuest.

Besides saving time with the purchasing process, SciQuest allows users to get the best prices by searching a wide range of products and comparing prices between University of Ottawa approved vendors. Users can track their purchases from the time they place their order to the time payment is made. With its efficient reporting feature, SciQuest allows users to effortlessly produce relevant reports to meet their operational needs.

Impact

The introduction of SciQuest will have an impact on current procurement processes at the University and on people’s roles in the current supply chain. Procedures must be adapted to SciQuest workflows. The supply chain in SciQuest is organized according to four optimal roles:

  • Shopper
  • Requisitioner
  • Approver
  • Campus Accounts Payable (Payer)

The University of Ottawa’s long term plan is to host the majority of approved vendors on SciQuest. However, initially, employees will continue to use their current procurement processes when purchasing services and goods that are not yet SciQuest-friendly.

For employees who have a role to play in the current supply chain, the arrival of SciQuest will change the way they purchase. A comprehensive training program and support resources will allow new SciQuest users to transition smoothly to this new way to buy at the University.
